Virgo fights Cancer- Star Wars?

It is not astrology but oncology that I am writing about.

On my birthday I decided to do something on this day that would be useful to society. So I signed up as a volunteer at the American Cancer Society. Do I have a cancer connection? Not really, though my husband\’s father passed away 30 years ago due to lung cancer. He has been doing his bit for cancer patients ever since he could afford it- sponsor the treatment of 15-20 patients every year at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India. His family has also been supportive in this endeavor.

26 years of teaching and seeing patients at the OBGYN department of our homeopathic college and hospital has brought me face to face with cancer on many occasions. I can proudly say that often it was I who had first detected the cancer, sometimes in the very early stages but often the patient came too late for remedial measures.

Women above 30 years should regularly do a self breast examination and report to a doctor or health care personnel if they notice a lump in the brest. A Pap smear is also a must every one or two years.

In addition to the above, women in the 40s and over should have a mammogram of the breast done every year to look for growths in the breast.

Remember, early detection is the key to survival.

What has homeopathy to offer to cancer patients? \’Cure\’ may depend on the location, type and stage of cancer. People come to a homeopath expecting miracles. Unfortunately they come too late- after exhausting all other modes of therapy. By this time the pathology has progressed and the disease has spread. Such cases cannot be cured. We can only palliate them.

To relieve the pains of cancer, the homeopathic remedies Euphorbinum, Hydrastis, Cundurango, Asterias rubens, Ars. alb are used.

Ruta is a remedy that may useful in colonic cancers, and esp. the rectum.

Conium, Asterias rubens and Hydrastis may be used for cancer of the breast.

Homeopaths have been known to treat uterine cancers with Aurum mur natronatum and Acid nitricum. Malignancies involving the bone may need Aurum iodatum, Symphytum or Asafetida.

Homeopathy has also found to be useful in treating the side effects of  chemotherapy and radiation.

All these medicines are given in potentized form and help stimulate the self healing powers of the individual, wherever possible.
