There is not one person in this world who can truthfully claim that they have never suffered from some sort of acute or chronic respiratory disorder. Acute “colds and cough” start as soon as the child joins a day-care or goes to kindergarten. While some get very few respiratory illnesses in the formative years, many of them will have recurrent attacks, eg. from every change of weather, that point to a weak immune system. Allergies of the respiratory tract, like the spring allergies and even asthma are also indicators of the immune system going haywire- however in these conditions, the immune system is not ‘weak’ but over-sensitive to certain substances and the airways become hyper-reactive.
Homeopathy is a system of therapeutics that is known to work for all types of respiratory conditions- from simple colds and allergies to sinusitis, bronchial asthma, bronchitis and even pneumonias. This is because homeopathic remedies modifiy the immune system and make the body less sensitive to the allergens and also stimulate the body’s defense mechanism against bugs like viruses and bacteria. A scientific approach to these conditions helps a homeopath in aiding recovery.
A recent webinar by Vijay Vaishnav highlights the important role homeopathy has played in the treatment of respiratory conditions. He has used the homeopathic literature to highlight the importance of different remedies in respiratory disorders and also given anecdotal case examples from his practice.
